EE to offer broadband without mobile subscription
Manoj Solanki, Saturday June 14, 2014 - 9:27 PMMobile operator EE is now offering broadband without the need for a mobile subscription.
Its 17 Mbps home broadband service currently costs £2.50 per month for the first year, £9.95 for mobile subscribers, but now non-subscribers can get the same service for an extra £10 per month.
For those wanting faster broadband speeds, EE also has two fibre broadband package. Its entry-level package offers speeds of up to 38Mbps from £5 a month for the first three months, rising to £19.95 thereafter. Its more expensive fibre broadband plan offers speeds of up to 76Mbps and costs £20 per month for the first 3 months, rising to £34.95 per month thereafter.
EE also has been shouting a little louder about its buyout deal for consumers who are already tied into a contract, with a value of up to £100.
The move to expand its broadband offering to non-subscribers shows EE’s intention to compete with the bigger players in the broadband market, including Sky, BT, Virgin and O2.
Earlier in the week, EE also announced that it would be creating 300 new customer service jobs in Derby and has already started recruiting for the roles.
