T-Mobile offers Samsung N130 & Compaq CQ61 laptops with Mobile Broadband
Manoj Solanki, Wednesday November 25, 2009 - 4:48 PMFollowing the removal of laptop deals, T-Mobile introduces two new laptop and mobile broadband deals from £25 per month.
The Samsung N130 netbook has a 10.1? screen, 1GB of memory (RAM), a 160GB hard drive, Windows XP Home (SP3) and a very decent 7.5 hours of battery life. This deal comes with Mobile Broadband Plus which includes unlimited texts, a free USB stick (dongle) and a fair usage limit of 3GB. This costs £25 per month with the usual 24-month contract. The laptop has favourable reviews, but T-Mobile faces competition from 3 Mobile Broadband who also offer it for £20 per month with a 1GB usage limit, or for £25 per month with a hefty 15GB of usage.
The Compaq CQ61 laptop has a 15.6″ screen, 2 GB of memory (RAM), a 160GB hard drive, Windows 7 and has an AMD Sempron™ Processor designed for Notebook PCs. This comes with Mobile Broadband Extra which includes a free USB stick, access to VoIP services like Skype and a 5GB fair usage limit. This costs £30 per month with a 24-month contract. Again it faces competition from 3 however, who offer the same laptop at the same price, only with a higher usage limit of 15GB.
Perhaps what T-Mobile does have in its favour is that it can potentially offer higher broadband speeds of around 5.5Mbps (although they quote the maximum of 7.2Mbps), whilst 3 can achieve a maximum of 2.8Mps (quoted 3.6Mbps). How much difference it would make in everyday browsing is debatable however because of other factors that can affect the speed.
