T-Mobile rated top for broadband performance in tests
Manoj Solanki, Friday January 30, 2009 - 8:24 AMIn independant tests from network testing group P3, T-Mobile’s mobile broadband service came out on top.
The mobile broadband tests, carried out in Q4, put T-Mobile top for both download and upload speeds. It was found to have the best web browsing experience, 35 percent faster than the nearest competitor. Uploads were also 59 percent faster than the nearest competitor thanks to early deployment of HSUPA technology over it’s 3G network.
Emin Gurdenli, CTO of T-Mobile UK, said: “To be ranked No1 for two consecutive quarters since testing began in April last year is a significant achievement. Our consistently high performance is testament to the fact that we continually test and improve our network to make sure our customers are getting the best possible mobile broadband experience.”
The tests included downloading a 90-second video, streaming at 512Kbps, sending and receiving email, uploading a 1Mb (Megabyte) image and downloading of a 3Mb MP3 file.
T-Mobile is currently upgrading it’s HSDPA 3G network within the M25 and other major cities to provide headline download speeds up to 7.2Mbps, reastically providing speeds of around 4.5Mbps.
