T-Mobile announces mobile broadband speed upgrades

T-Mobile has announced the launch of its ‘HSUPA’ mobile broadband network service.

The mobile operator claims it has today switched on the country’s first nationwide fast upload network, based on ‘HSUPA’ (High-Speed Uplink Packet Accesss). This will improve T-Mobile’s mobile broadband upload speeds to offer a maximum of 1.4 Mbps.  This will be good news for those who need to transfer content to the web, rather than just download content. 

Those using Social Networking sites, such as Facebook or Twitter will benefit from quicker uploads of photos and videos.

The mobile operator is also in the process of upgrading its network to offer 7.2Mbps download line speeds, which is a maximum of around 4 to 5 Mbps in good conditions, and putting it on a par with Vodafone’s mobile broadband service.  The coverage will initially be within the M25, but T-Mobile expects a roll out to other major cities during the second half of 2008.
