UK Online re-works broadband offering
Manoj Solanki, Monday October 15, 2007 - 2:07 PMUK Online has created a new range of broadband products, aimed at home and office users.
The specialist consumer and business broadband provider now offers the following packages:
- ‘Lite’. Up to 2Mbps for £14.99 per month.
- ‘Pro’. Up to 8Mbps for £19.99 per month.
- ‘Premier’. Up to 16Mbps download and 1Mbps upload for £24.99 per month. This also includes a free domain name, business quality email, static IP and webspace.
All packages offer unlimited usage (with fair usage policy), UK based 24×7 Freephone Support and 12 months free McAfee Internet Security Suite. The prices stated include VAT.
UK Online’s key strategy for the new offering appears to be more focus on reliability and quality of support. The 24/7 freephone support line will please customers who are likely to need a helping hand during set-up or troubleshooting.
As part of the development of the new packages, UK Online also surveyed 500 small businesses on their broadband service. Over three quarters of respondents said that they rely on the Internet for the success and growth of their business, citing reliability as the most important factor when choosing a broadband supplier.
Chris Stening, Managing Director at UK Online said, “A growing number of broadband users, whether recreational users, homeworkers, or small businesses are becoming increasingly reliant on their broadband service. They all demand but don’t always get the basics of service reliability and accessible support.
“Broadband services are not all the same – but the basic needs of those dependent on their broadband connection are. We think that the fact eight out of ten UK Online customers would recommend us to a friend or colleague illustrates that we can meet those needs” he added.
Manoj Solanki of SeekBroadband.com commented, “Competition is stiffer than it has ever been between internet providers and there are plenty of broadband offers to choose from, so it makes sense for customers to shop around for one that is tailored to their specific needs.
“Often, it is also tempting for a customer to base the final decision on price alone, as customers may find it difficult to differentiate between several offers. However, price alone should not be the only consideration, especially if you have specific or more demanding requirements.”
