Plusnet offer to Pipex customers following takeover

Plusnet are offering one month free to customers who may want to leave Pipex.

Following Tiscali’s acquisition of Pipex’s broadband division, Plusnet is offering the incentive to any existing Pipex customers.  Plusnet believe that the move may anger some existing Pipex customers and prompt them to look elsewhere.

Customers who migrate their existing broadband connection to Plusnet will benefit from one month’s free broadband and home phone service if applicable.

Neil Armstrong, products director at PlusNet said:

“Tiscali acquiring Pipex will create massive customer churn in the consumer broadband market. 

“Pipex is ranked fifth for customer service by Uswitch and Tiscali ranked seventh. We expect Pipex customers will react to this move by voting with their feet. Broadband users want speed, reliability and first class customer service, not mass market offerings.
 
“We’re inviting customers of Pipex, Toucan, Freedom2Surf, Bulldog and Nildram to take advantage of this new special offer, given how popular we expect the offer to be it will only be available for a limited time.” he added.

Figures just released by performance monitoring service Epitiro showed Tiscali, Pipex and Plusnet in the top five for broadband performance.  Plusnet themselves recently came out top in a YouGov survey as the best overall provider.
