ITV to launch new broadband TV service
Manoj Solanki, Tuesday May 1, 2007 - 10:15 PMITV have announced the new launch of a broadband service through its website and is due to go live in the next few weeks.
The new service will offer live streaming of ITV channels through ’click and watch’ technology. Basically meaning that you can log onto the website and watch ITV channels. Other features include a 30 day catch-up service, user-generated content, best of ITV archive and broadband games.
Michael Grade, Executive Chairman of ITV said in a statement:
“Today we are combining the best of TV with the best of the web to create a service unrivalled by any other commercial broadcaster, anywhere in the world. Some are already streaming their channels, some are providing catch-up, and some building their archive, but ITV.com will provide all three.
“ITV.com provides a compelling free service to consumers and dynamic online opportunities for our advertisers. This launch is a major step in ITV’s development” he added.
The launch co-incides with the BBC yesterday receiving approval to launch its own broadband service, dubbed the iPlayer.
