Talk Talk enter top five for broadband performance

Manoj Solanki, Monday April 30, 2007 - 8:02 PM

In the latest round of ADSL broadband performance chart figures by monitoring service Epitiro, TalkTalk enter the top five, whilst BT stays top.

Epitiro’s customer experience monitoring and competitor benchmarking service, called ISP-I, monitored the consumer ADSL broadband services from the ten largest consumer ADSL broadband providers. ISP-I™ provides real-time data on the speed and reliability of Internet connections, how long it takes to connect to the Internet, upload and download speeds and performance of both ping and DNS lookup times.  These measures enable them to understand the consumer broadband experience in terms of performance.

BT continues to stay top of the performance chart as with the last quarter, with AOL re-entering the top five.

Epitiro point out that the report only measures ADSL and ADSL Max broadband connections, but plans to add cable and ADSL2+ monitoring starting from Q3 2007.

Gavin Johns, Managing Director of Epitiro said in a press release:

“In terms of technical performance, BT, Demon and Pipex are consistently maintaining their presence in the top five.

“Customer experience monitoring is the only way that ISPs can get a true picture of how their networks are performing. ISP-I measures key metrics that give a full indication of connection quality, statistics that the customer wouldn’t necessarily be aware of but that have a real impact on their online experience” he added.

The top five are as follows:

Overall Ranking Q4 2006 Q1 2007
1 BT BT
2 Pipex Demon
3 Orange AOL
4 Demon Pipex
5 Virgin (non-cable) TalkTalk
