Wireless Broadband network launched in City of London

Wireless Broadband provider The Cloud have announced the launch of an outdoor WiFi network across the City of London.

Following successful trials since last year with the City of London Corporation, The Cloud announced the official launch today.  The network will offer wireless broadband access to over 350,000 people through a WiFi enabled device such as a laptop or mobile phone.

Free access is being provided for the first month in association with Nokia.  The Cloud and Nokia will also spend the next month publicizing the network

The network involves the use of Broadband Mesh technology, provided by BelAir networks with the wireless equipment built into existing lamp posts and street signs.

Commenting on the launch, Niall Murphy, Chief Strategy Officer of The Cloud said:
