freedom2surf offers on-demand TV over broadband

Manoj Solanki, Wednesday October 18, 2006 - 4:43 PM

Broadband ISP freedom2surf has signed a partnership with IPTV provider Aggregator to offer on-demand television over broadband (TVoBB) to its customers.

Customers will be offered niche, special interest programmes over their freedom2surf broadband connection. Aggregator’s on-demand services deliver niche content to specialist communities underserved by the mainstream television market. The initial programmes will be for Russian expatriates living in the UK through its Mo?TV portal with further special interest programmes to follow.

Aggregator’s TVoBB services will be accesible from a PC or hybrid set-top boxes.

Martin Goswami, co-founder and CEO of Aggregator said: “The changing television landscape has brought non-traditional players into the digital media industry, offering specialist content that is in tune with customers needs. As part of offering services over the Internet, it’s essential that we work closely with ISPs. We are delighted to have already started this process with freedom2surf, who understand the challenges we face and have web-savvy customers that are keen to explore TVoBB.”

“TVoBB is one of the most exciting areas in the Internet and communications industry and we certainly want to be part of it,” says Maria Cappella, managing director of freedom2surf. “We are working closely with Aggregator to trial services with our customer base and find ways of offering a consistent, high quality service for broadband television customers.”
