Ofcom publish latest communications report

Manoj Solanki, Wednesday November 29, 2006 - 12:42 PM

Latest report shows broadband usage linked to decline in television viewing.

The report analysed trends in various countries in Europe, the USA and the Far East (China and Japan). The figures suggest that as more consumers are using broadband, television viewing declined, according to around a third of the consumers surveyed. However, broadband usage appears to have had a positive affect on radio listening.

In other key points, the UK was also found to be slow in adopting new broadband services such as IPTV (TV over internet) and VoIP (Voice over IP). However, it has highest proportion of overall advertising spend on the internet at 10%.

China was found to have the highest percentage of viewers for online music and television at 76% and 70% respectively.
