Easynet launches new division for SMEs

Manoj Solanki, Sunday January 13, 2008 - 9:00 PM

Sky owned Easynet has launched a new business unit to provide cost effective high bandwidth Internet services.

BSkyB owned Easynet, which provides the network infrastructure for Sky and UKOnline, will offer low cost, high bandwidth Internet solutions aimed at Small to Medium Enterprises.

“Easynet Connect” offers Ethernet, DSL and traditional leased line services. Its leading product EtherStream, uses EFM (Ethernet in the First Mile) technology over copper lines. This is set to meet the demands of business networks experiencing a convergence of applications and a demand for higher bandwidth within tight budgets.

The EtherStream solution provides a cost effective way for businesses to gain that vital extra bandwidth without requiring expensive fibre and the used of leased line products.  Speeds will range from 6 to 20Mbps.

All services will also offer low or zero contention ratios, unlimited round the clock support and a Service Level Guarantee.

“Smaller businesses may have less complex IT requirements than larger corporations, but fast reliable Internet connectivity and access to the right level of support is absolutely critical for them,” said Chris Stening, managing director of Easynet Connect.

“At Easynet Connect we have the experience, network reach and capabilities in place, so rather than waste valuable time sorting out IT issues and problems they can concentrate on running their business ”.

Sandra O’Boyle, Research Director at Current Analysis, commented: “For customers, it could be a bonus to be part of a specialized SME division, Easynet Connect, that will focus only on the needs of smaller businesses.   Easynet has a long history as a service provider to SMEs and places the importance of customer satisfaction at the core of its operational model.  Customers should see little change initially other than the new logo Easynet Connect.”
