Zen voted best broadband ISP by PC Pro readers

Manoj Solanki, Wednesday December 5, 2007 - 10:44 AM

In PC Pro’s annual awards, Zen was voted best ISP for the fourth year in a row.

In PC Pro’s survey, 95% of Zen customers said they would recommend them to a friend.  Madasafish came second as “highly commended”.

Free broadband providers did not fair very well, and only Sky made it into the top ten as it scored highly on “value for money”.  Providers such as Orange, TalkTalk and Virgin Media were among those that did not score highly.

Only 49% of Orange customers said they would recommend them to a friend, with Virgin Media only slightly better at 54%.  This compares to an industry average of 69%, according to PC Pro.

Surveys earlier in the year by Point Topic showed a general improvement in broadband service levels at 77%, which was a marked improvement on 2006 when levels were much lower.

Interestingly, Carphone Warehouse showed an improvement in customer service levels in Point Topic’s broadband survey of 4,000 people back in August 2007.  However, Orange, didn’t fair well in that survey either, with only 45% of Orange customers happy to stay on.

The annual PC Pro Awards were held last night at London’s Science Museum, with 20,000 readers voting on products and services in 12 categories.
