Be replaces light usage package
Manoj Solanki, Thursday August 30, 2007 - 6:05 AMBe has replaced its light usage product with a new ‘Value’ package.
The outgoing ‘Lite’ package offered 24 Mbps download and a usage cap, but the new one offers unlimited usage (with a fair usage policy), up to 8 Mbps download and 1.3 Mbps upload speeds. It is still marketed at light users.
Other features of the new product remain largely unchanged from the old product. There is still a 12 month contract period, a free wireless modem and 24/7 support.
Interestingly, Be says it is catering for services such as BBC iPlayer, which uses underlying (peer-to-peer) software that can involve large data transfers.
Dana Pressman, Managing Director of Be Unlimited, said: “This is great news for consumers as an uncapped, up to 8 meg service for only £14 per month is what customers want. Services like the BBC iPlayer are what we planned for right from the start. With built in redundancy in the core network we can give our members the sort of service others will struggle to provide.”
