Free trial of 40Mbps broadband for local businesses in Glasgow Halfway

BT Business has announced a third trial of its FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) broadband service, which is now available to eligible local businesses in Glasgow Halfway.

Most should be able to sign-up, with minor exceptions such as those whose phoneline is connected directly to the exchange rather than to a street cabinet.

The trial continues BTs £1.5 Billion investment in a fibre-based broadband service in the UK, which is currently scoped to be available to around 40% of UK homes and businesses.  Two trials are already well underway in Muswell Hill, London and Whitchurch, Cardiff.

BT Business points to their recent national survey, which found that 61% of SMEs value a faster broadband connection, and hopes that the trial will help SMEs explore the benefits further, such as improved video-conferencing, file sharing, multiple users enjoying fast broadband speeds and flexible working.

The service should be rolled out to homes in the area from early next year and BT will notify customers as this happens.
